The
Vehicle Identity Check (VIC)
scheme has been introduced
as a deterrent to ringing.
Insurers must notify the
Driver and Vehicle Licensing
Agency (DVLA) of all cars
‘written off’ within salvage
categories
A, B
or C. This
notification will set a ‘VIC
marker’ against the DVLA
vehicle record. Whilst a VIC
marker remains set, DVLA
won’t issue a registration
certificate V5C, or vehicle
licence reminder V11. The
VIC marker will only be
removed, when the car passes
a VIC.
You can
purchase a Category "C"
vehicle for a fraction of
its current retail value.
However before you can
legally return a CAT. "C"
vehicle for use on the
public highway, the vehicle
will have to be inspected by
VOSA. Once a successful
inspection has been
completed, other relevant
documents can be applied
for. These will include a
replacement logbook (V5C) and Tax
Disc.
If
you trade in the selling of
repaired CAT. "C" vehicles
then this service will prove
valuable to you. From
experience, most car purchasers prefer
to buy a vehicle that has a
logbook (V5C), MOT,
Road Tax and Service History if
available at the point of purchase. You are unlikely to receive any of
these documents when you
purchase a CAT "C" vehicle.
I can complete all the
various stages that are
required to get your vehicle
legal. Below you will see
different levels of service
and their cost. Select the
option you
require and submit the form.
I will then email you with a
complete itemised quote.
The prices quoted below are
our administration and
labour cost. If you prefer
to submit the required
information by telephone
please call 0844 371 8121 or
07956 414706.
Options Explained:
Option 1.
You require a Tax Disc and
logbook (V5C) only. In this
instance you would have
already obtained a VIC and
MOT certificate for your
vehicle. Send these
documents to our mailing
address by recorded post or
other trackable courier.
Once processed, a Tax disc
will be sent to you and a
new log book will follow.
DVLA quote up to 6 weeks for
a replacement logbook (V5C).
Option 2.
You Require a VIC
certificate, tax disc and
logbook (V5C). You must have a
current MOT certificate. The
vehicle must also be
displaying front and rear
number plates and the
relevant repairs completed.
You will bring the vehicle
to our base at an arranged
time so it can be presented
to VOSA for its VIC test.
The test will take
approximately 45 mins. Once
the VIC certificate has been
obtained the rest of your
order will be processed as
in option 1.
Option 3.
If you require a VIC
certificate and logbook
(V5C) only, your vehicle will have
to be taken to the VOSA
testing station by
transporter. Again the
vehicle must have front and
rear number plates and the
associated CAT "C" damage
repaired. A VIC appointment
will be arranged for you and
you will be informed of
this. Your vehicle will
be collected in time for the
test and on completion
returned to you with a copy
of the VIC. certificate. The
VIC certificate will be
retained by us to make the
logbook (V5C) application. Once
the application has been
completed the VIC
certificate will be
returned to you and your
logbook (V5C) will follow. DVLA
quote up to 6 weeks for a
replacement logbook (V5C).
Option 4.
This is the same as
option 3, the only addition
is you require a tax disc
also. Your vehicle will be
taken to the VOSA testing
station by transporter.
Again the vehicle must have
front and rear number plates
and the associated CAT "C"
damage repaired. A VIC
appointment will be arranged
for you and you will be
informed of this. Your
vehicle will be
collected in time for the
test and on completion
returned to you with a copy
of the VIC. certificate. The
VIC certificate will be
retained by us to make the
logbook (V5C) and tax disc
application. Once the
application has been
completed the VIC
certificate and tax disc
will be returned to
you and your logbook (V5C) will
follow. DVLA quote up to 6
weeks for a replacement
logbook (V5C).
