Does your car or van require an MOT?  It may not always be convenient for you to take your vehicle for its annual MOT test when the current certificate expires.

Other reasons preventing you from taking the vehicle for MOT:

It may be subject to SORN. (Statutory Off Road Notice).

Uninsured.

Untaxed.

Just not convenient to do so.

In addition, it is possible your car could fail it's MOT for something minor, for example a blown light bulb, faulty tyre, cracked mirror etc.  Whatever the failure issue may be,  it will undoubtedly incur further off road time, additional costs  and  a retest fee.

The best way forward would be to have a pre MOT check to make sure all is in order before taking the vehicle for the actual test.  Here is how I can bring costs and time down to a minimum. Your car will be collected at a pre arranged time, this could be from your place of work, home etc.  The vehicle will be subject to a pre MOT check. If there are any faults that need correcting you will be informed before any work is carried out and also advised of cost. If the faults are minor you will only be charged for parts there will be no labour charges. If the faults are of a more serious nature i.e. brake steering suspension etc you will be advised accordingly. In all cases where a retest is applicable, there will be no charge providing any repairs required are carried out within 14 days of the original test. Status and condition of your vehicle will determine whether it is driven to the MOT station or collected by transporter.
